KU to Host 2023 Entrepreneurship Week March 27-31

Kutztown University's College of Business, the Entrepreneurial Leadership Center (ELC) and the KU Small Business Development Center (SBDC) are proud to present Entrepreneurship Week 2023, Monday, March 27 to Friday, March 31. This annual event provides students and the local community with valuable insights, strategies and tools from experts to help launch or strengthen their businesses. Events are free and open to the public. Saint Patrick's Day Celebrations

The Kutztown Pipe Band participated in the Saint Patrick's Day celebration at Ganly's Irish Pub and Restaurant Friday, March 17 and was featured on the morning and evening news on Channel 69 WFMZ. The KPB also braved the cold and wind Sunday, March 19 to march in the Pocono Irish American Club's 44th annual Saint Patrick's Day Parade in Stroudsburg, Pa. Current members of the band include KU faculty, staff, alums, students of local high schools and local community members. Free introductory bagpipe lessons are offered by the Kutztown Pipe Band to KU faculty, staff, students, as well as local community members. In-person group lessons are 6 p.m. Thursdays and a go-at-your-own-pace online course option is available in D2L for KU community members. All current pipers in the band learned to play the bagpipes through this introductory program which was initiated in 2017. Experienced pipers and drummers are also invited to join the band. Dave will be retiring from the university Friday, March 31. The Facilities Project Services team would like to thank Dave for his many years of dedicated service. We wish him the best entering his next chapter.

Ramadan 2023 Begins March 22

Ramadan is the Muslim month of fasting. Practicing Muslim students, faculty and staff will be fasting (i.e., no food and no water) from dawn to dusk. It is not unusual to be up past midnight for prayers and then get up at 3:30-4 a.m. to eat before dawn and pray. Ramadan 2023 will last through Friday, April 21. Please note that Muslim students, faculty and staff may be tired, hungry and dehydrated in your classes, offices or events - especially later in the afternoon and early evening classes or activities.

Women's History Month Event - Uplifting Women in The Workplace

Join the Women's Center and Career Development Center 2-4 p.m. Thursday, March 23, Multicultural Center. This program will touch on sexism and microaggressions in the workplace and how women can move up in their jobs, be successful and feel a sense of empowerment. This program is open to all faculty, staff and students.

Chambliss Faculty Research Lecture Featuring Dr. Yongjae Kim

Dr. Yongjae Kim, Department of Sport Management, will present the Chambliss Faculty Research Award lecture 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, 145 Boehm. Kim’s lecture is titled "From Gaming to Gaining: The Impact of Repetitive Sport Video Gaming on Sport Attitudes and Behavior." Light refreshments will be available. If you are unable to join us in person, the lecture will be recorded and posted to YouTube after the event.

On-Campus Internship and Job Fair

Staff and faculty, please remind your students that the on-campus KU internship and Job Fair is noon to 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, 218 MSU. There will be more than 65 employers attending. Students need to come professionally dressed and with copies of their resumes. Students can view the employers coming to the fair on their Handshake account, as well as making an appointment for the Career Closet for professional clothing. Sign-up for this free training 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 29. Topics will include Business Start-up/Preplanning, Customer Relations, eCommerce, Managing a Business, Marketing/Sales, Social Media and Woman-owned Businesses. Come join the Kutztown University Social Media Strategy team to create and implement your personal brand for your digital presence. At this workshop we will develop a brand identity for you and your business, capture new headshots for your digital profiles, identify the core messaging and combine the idea with the vision. At the end of this workshop, you will have developed a personal brand book that can serve as your future guide to consistent digital marketing. Children's Literature Conference - 25 Years of Celebrating Children's Literature

We are so excited about this year's conference. We will celebrate a week of children's literature on campus with a book fair for KU students, virtual school visits with Sophie Blackall and Alan Gratz, Teen Library Day with Candice Iloh and the full day conference 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, April 15.
