  • Background Information
    Dr. Kremser is a native of Pennsylvania. His research interests include topics related to school-related offenses, violent crime, and security. He is frequently invited to present his research at conferences throughout the United States and internationally. In 2018, he presented research at the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime in Vienna, Austria, that examined the initial impact of the governor of Pennsylvania’s initiative to address the heroin epidemic in the commonwealth. In 2015, he was invited to the Stockholm Criminology Symposium, where he presented his study on situational crime prevention strategies that identify increased levels of reported victimization among students during their school commute.

    Dr. Kremser actively maintains many professional certifications in the areas of crime prevention, school safety, and security management. He is certified by the National Association of School Resource Officers in Active Shooter Response and has trained with school resource officers from the Fargo, North Dakota Police, Allentown Police, and several other departments.

    Dr. Kremser holds the Certified Protection Professional (CPP) designation, which is considered the “gold standard” within the security industry.
    In 2020, he earned the Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) Professional Designation, which is the recognized standard for CPTED practitioners. CPTED practitioners ensure the proper design of structures, schools, and neighborhoods to reduce fear and incidence of crime, leading to an improvement in quality of life.

    Dr. Kremser served as a weapons instructor in the U.S. Navy, and conducted training classes with Department of Defense Police. He also served in the 213th Air Defense Artillery Regiment.
