Academic Advisement
Academic advisor
Your Academic Advisor is a faculty member who will guide and advise you in matters such as selecting and scheduling courses, establishing and evaluating academic goals, understanding and navigating university policies and procedures, exploring academic majors and related careers, declaring a major, and connecting with other university programs and resources.
academic advisement
Students are required to meet with their Academic Advisor for academic advisement each
semester to receive assistance with career, major and course selection. An Advisor hold is placed on the student’s account in MyKU and is not removed until the student meets with their advisor. Once the hold is removed the student is able to enroll in their courses via MyKU for the Fall or Spring semester. Prior to each advisement period, students will receive an email from their academic advisor with information regarding the process to scheduling an advisement appointment.
To assist you in the academic advising process, below you can find a list of courses approved to be used towards your general education requirements and a General Education Course Checksheet to help you keep track of your courses.
request for extension of exploratory studies status
Exploratory Studies students with more than 60 credits will need to complete a Request for Extension Form which will require the recommendation of the Chairperson of the Department of Academic Enrichment and the approval of the Associate Provost for Retention and Student Success.
