Academic Advising & Student Development
A General Studies degree offers the flexibility to design an academic program that fits your unique interests, goals, and schedule. Whether you're a current student looking to build an interdisciplinary major that is customized to your educational and career goals or seeking a pathway to complete your degree, General Studies offers an adaptable curriculum that values your experience and empowers your future.
Bachelor of Science in General Studies (120 credits)
The BS General Studies program requires students to complete 21 credits in a concentration area (e.g., Business, Art, Chemistry, etc.) plus 30 to 39 credits as defined by the student. Students also need to satisfy KU's General Education requirements.
This option is well-suited for current students who are looking to craft a unique, interdisciplinary major attuned to their educational and career goals as well as students who are looking to complete their undergraduate degree but are unable to complete their current major due to time or financial constraints.
Bachelor of Science in General Studies: Professional Studies (120 credits)
The BS General Studies: Professional Studies program requires students to complete one of two options: 30 credits in a single concentration area or 36 credits split equally between two concentration areas. Students also need to satisfy KU's General Education requirements.
This option is available to readmit and transfer students who have not been enrolled in an institution of higher education within the last three years and have previously completed 90 credits of coursework.
