Pedagogical Development Grant 2022-2023

CET Pedagogical Development Grant 2022-2023

Deadline for grant proposal submission: April 8, 2022

Funding decisions will be announced on or before April 29, 2022

PURPOSE: The grant’s purpose is to encourage faculty to develop, implement and assess a
significantly different approach in their teaching that focuses on improving student learning and instructor effectiveness for the 2022-2023 academic year. While we welcome any innovative approaches, we are particularly interested in projects that intersect with recent CET topics such as ungrading, metacognition, or trauma-informed teaching practices.

Although exploration is encouraged, it is also expected that a significant product will result from these projects, such as a newly configured course, significant course revision, or equivalent impact on teaching and student learning. Preference will be given to proposals that have a well-developed plan for assessing the outcomes of the novel approach.

AWARD: Funded projects will be allotted up to $1,500 (including benefits) to cover faculty’s
stipend for time spent developing new course pedagogy. The funds may also be used to purchase equipment for pedagogical purposes.

ELIGIBILITY: The program is open to tenure-track and tenured faculty members. A faculty
member cannot be awarded more than one KU CET grant during the 2022-2023 academic
year.

EXPECTATIONS: Grant recipients are expected to devote the specified amount of work on
their projects during the summer 2022. If awarded, a preliminary presentation of your project is
expected at a CET session in Fall 2022. After the grant period, we will also ask you to participate in a CET session to allow grant recipients to share their work with the campus community. Furthermore, a brief written report of your project needs to be submitted to the CET within 30 days after completion of the project. Please notify the CET immediately of any changes that may prevent you from completing the proposed project.

Proposals are due by 11:59 pm. on Friday, April 8, 2022. The project narrative and the letter
of support must be formatted as one PDF file and emailed from the faculty member to the email address cet@kutztown.edu including the following in the subject line of your email: “Last name / CET Grant Application.” Please refer to specific guidelines below and direct questions to the CET at cet@kutztown.edu.

expected of faculty (including switching modality). Explain how you plan to assess
the impact of your project on student learning. Proposals with clear and thoughtful
