Homecoming 2022 - October 17 to October 23

The Homecoming Committee, Office of Student Involvement, Community Outreach Center, and Alumni Relations are thrilled to welcome Kutztown University alumni home this year. We have a great schedule of events and we hope that students, staff, faculty, and alumni will join us in the festivities this year!

Monday October 17

RHA Banner Display Begins | McFarland Student Union Building
Check out the uniquely designed and amazing banners created by various students organizations on campus. 

Spirit Court Election Begins | 12PM on ENGAGE
Elections for Spirit Court Champion begins. Each nominee to the Spirit Court serves as the representative for their student organization. Nominees and their organization worked hard for the chance to be crowned Champion. Each group has participated in civic engagement and volunteer related work. In order to vote for a nominee, students must have signed up for TurboVote election reminder services by October 10.

Tuesday, October 18

1866 Minute Giving Challenge | McFarland Student Union Building 
Imagine supporting team travel to an out-of-state tournament. Or wouldn't it be amazing if an entire group of students could attend a professional conference or even give back to the community through Alternative Spring Break? What if you could ensure that over 25 students in financial crisis had the resources they need to cover food and housing expenses? For 1,866 minutes, the Kutztown University community unites as one to support all. For more information please contact Tiffany Brandt-Thomas.

The Roar: Homecoming Open Mic with Yaniza | 7PM, McFarland Student Union, Bear's Den 
Join the Office of Student Involvement, Kutztown University Activities Board, and KU Home of Hip Hop for an exciting night filled with amazing talent from our student body and featuring a special guest performer. Check out the coffee shop vibes by enjoying an open mic right at the Bear's Den. 

Student Performers are Needed: OSI is looking for students to perform. Students that are interested in sharing poetry, spoken word, playing an instrument, singing, or showing off a talent can sign up in advance on Engage. 

Guest Performer of the Night: Yaniza is a bilingual pop singer-songwriter from New York City. Yaniza's tunes bring joy and sunshine to its listeners through catchy lyrics meshed with acoustic guitar, ukulele, or piano base. Her self-directed music videos also captivate her audience through images of positivity and happiness. 

Wednesday, October 19

Football Skills Competition | 7PM, Andre Reed Stadium
Join Recreational Sports and Club Council for a competition that will test your football skills. Join in on the fun! 

Thursday, October 20

Spirit Stations | 11AM, Various Locations
Join Kutztown University offices and clubs for giveaways as we all get into the Golden Bear spirit. Spirit stations and their sponsoring organization and location are listed below:

Spirit Court Election Ends | 12PM on ENGAGE
Students wishing to vote for a nominee on the Spirit Court must cast their vote by 12PM. The student that receives the most votes will be crowned the Spirit Court Champion at the football game on Saturday, during halftime. 

Homecoming Spirit Rally | 8PM, Andre Reed Stadium (Rain Location: Rec Center)
Come and join our athletics teams as we hype them up for their big games throughout the remainder of Homecoming week. Watch performances from the KU Dance Team and Black Flame Dance Team and meet the Spirit Court nominees one last time before the reveal of the winner. 

Friday, October 21

Kutztown Cares Day of Service | 9AM, Various Locations 
This year we continue the tradition of giving back to our communities through partnerships with non-profits and community organizations that have KU alumni working at them. Students will have the opportunity to not only give back on this day of service, but also meet alumni and make connections. The service opportunities available to students this year are listed below. RHA Homecoming S'mores Night | 7PM, South Dining Hall Room 1
Join the Residence Hall Association for their annual s'mores night. Get in the Golden Bear spirit on the final night before the big game and when alumni return home to campus. Share a tasty s'more with your friends and get excited for the big weekend ahead. 

Saturday, October 22

Kutztown University FanFest | 12PM, DMZ
Join Alumni Relations under the big tent on the DMZ for family friendly entertainment featuring free food, inflatables, live animals, personalized balloon creations, and more! You must be registered for the FanFest (Cub Tent) in order to qualify for any giveaway items at the KU Foundation Table. You can pre-register online or in-person on the day of the event. Spirit Court Champion Announced | Halftime, Andre Reed Stadium 
Our student organizations and their representatives on the Spirit Court have waited for this moment. Watch as we reveal the student and their organization that received the most votes this homecoming as we crown our Spirit Court Champion at halftime. S[irit Court nominees and their organizations have hosted a table at National Voter Registration Day, dedicated at least one club meeting to civic engagement and upcoming election information, and participated in either the 1866 minute giving challenge or Kutztown Cares Day of Service. 

Sunday, October 23

Greek Community Clean Up | 9AM, Borough of Kutztown
Join the United Greek Council for their annual clean-up to wrap up Homecoming week. Students can contact garcia@kutztown.edu for questions.
