Middle States 2025 Self-Study Overview

June 9, 2025

Dear Colleagues:

We are pleased to provide an update on our Middle States reaccreditation efforts.

A great deal of hard work by many members of the campus community has culminated in a draft of our Self-Study which was recently shared with the Working Group chairs, members of Cabinet, the Counsel of Trustees, and President Hawkinson.

The Steering Committee has incorporated feedback from these groups and has sent a draft of our Self-Study to Dr. Darrell P. Wheeler, the Middle States Self-Study Team Chair.

Dr. Wheeler will be visiting Kutztown University on Wednesday, June 18, 2025. During this visit, he will share his initial thoughts on our Self-Study and will meet with faculty, staff, students, the Steering Committee, members of the Council of Trustees, and President Hawkinson to help us prepare for the full MSCHE Self-Study Peer Evaluation Team visit which will take place October 6-8, 2025.  The agenda for the full Team visit to be finalized by the MSCHE Team and announced as soon as it becomes available to us.

As has been communicated before, Middle States accreditation encompasses the entire institution, not just Academic Affairs, and entails an inclusive, broad-based effort to prepare for the visit, including deep reflection on our mission, goals, and commitment to our students and the surrounding community. We are grateful for our Working Groups who have shown dedication to their tasks, including research, data collection, and drafting of the respective chapters. Greatly appreciated, too, is the time that many staff and faculty dedicated to meeting with our Working Groups to aid in the gathering of evidence for the Self-Study.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us through this convenient link to the Steering Committee’s email account.

Sincerely,

Karen Rauch and Gregory Shelley, Middle States 2025 Co-Chairs
