Health Promotion Services

Health Promotion and Alcohol & Other Drug Services (HPAOD) vision strives to create a healthy collegiate environment that supports student success. Through programs and events, HPAOD Services provides interactive and cultivating experiences where students can raise their awareness of health and wellness through opportunities, programs, services, and events.

Services:

  • All first-year undergraduate students will receive an email to your student account with access information.
  • Kutztown University's Choices Report is a publication for students and employees on alcohol and other drugs. We invite students and the campus community to educate themselves about the dangers of alcohol and how to make safe choices. The college experience is unique and different for everyone.  Finding balance through healthy lifestyle choices can assist students in meeting their goals with success.
  • Brief Alcohol Screening and Intervention for College Students (BASICS) and Cannabis Abuse Screening and Intervention for College Students (CASICS) are prevention programs that include two confidential meetings with a specialist to examine choices, receive feedback, and develop a personal plan. For more information, contact the HPAOD office.
  • Well-being programs for student organizations/residence halls.
  • Self-Management and Recovery Training (SMART) was established in 1994, here in the USA, to meet the increasing demand of those seeking a secular and evidence-informed alternative to the widespread 12-Step addiction recovery program. Kutztown offers weekly meetings on campus. No appointment is necessary. Thursdays, 11am-12pm, McFarland Student Union Building Room 116.
