Assessment Rubrics
COMPASS PROGRAM ASSESSMENT RUBRICS
The American Association of Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) developed assessment practices that deepen, integrate, and demonstrate student learning through learning-centered assessment policies and approaches. Additionally, through the VALUE (Valid Assessment of Learning in Undergraduate Education) initiative, AAC&U has worked with faculty and assessment expert teams across the country to develop rubrics through which institutions can evaluate student learning across courses and programs (AAC&U, 2017). The GEPAC worked with involved faculty to adapt the original holistic VALUE rubrics into analytic ones between 2022 and 2025. The rubrics were further revised in 2026 to reflect faculty assessment participants' comments and overall lessons learned. The focus of assessment is on student learning as demonstrated through student work products.
