First Year in College

A note from a senior to their freshman self

Dear Freshman Self,

Congratulations on starting your college journey!

As you embark on this new chapter of your life, I wanted to offer some advice that I wish I had known when I was in your shoes.

First and foremost, don't be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone. College is a time to explore new interests, make new friends, and try new things. Take advantage of all the opportunities available to you, whether it's joining a club, attending a networking event, or studying abroad. Don't be afraid to take risks and make mistakes – that's how we learn and grow.

Secondly, prioritize your mental and physical health. College can be stressful and overwhelming at times, but it's important to take care of yourself. Make time for exercise, healthy eating, and plenty of sleep. Seek out counseling or other resources if you're struggling with mental health issues. Don't let the pressure to succeed take priority over your well-being.

Lastly, remember that college is just one part of your journey. It's easy to get caught up in the idea that your college experience will define your entire future, but that's simply not true.
Your college years are just a steppingstone to bigger and better things.

Don't be afraid to take risks, change your mind, and pursue your passions – even if it means deviating from the path you thought you were on. I hope these words of advice serve you well throughout your college journey.

Remember to stay true to yourself, embrace new experiences, and never stop learning.

Best,
Senior Self
