Baltimore Elementary School Librarian

This private, college-preparatory school in Baltimore needs an Elementary School Librarian beginning early September 2019. Ideally, the librarian will manage the library, oversee circulation for all faculty and students, coordinate author visits, and teach K-4 reading classes in small groups among other duties.

Candidates must hold at least a bachelor’s degree, but a master’s degree in library science is preferred. The new faculty will earn a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package based on experience and qualifications.

Delaware County Public Library Director

The Upper Darby Township & Sellers Memorial Free Public Library, comprised of three branch locations, is seeking an energetic, innovative leader for the position of Library Director. The Library Director has overall responsibility for all aspects of library operations, including personnel (selection, supervision, and development); budgeting and expenditures; collection development and materials processing; technology evaluation and implementation; programming and outreach; marketing; policy and procedure development and implementation; physical plant maintenance; and development of working relationships with multiple stakeholders. Upper Darby Township is a diverse, urban/suburban home rule township of the first class with a population of over 82,000 (2017 census estimate), located on the western border of Philadelphia. The three branches include: the Sellers Memorial Branch, the Municipal Branch, and the Primos Branch.

Qualifications

  • Professional/Educational
    • MLS/MLIS degree from an ALA accredited institution
    • PA State Library Certification or eligibility to acquire same within 6 months
    •  At least three years of increasing supervisory and /or managerial experience in libraries required.  Ability to travel within Township and Delaware County as required to perform responsibilities

Eastern Monroe Public Library (Part-Time)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Check materials in and out. Register patrons. Handle fines and fees. Resolve customer service problems. Sort and shelve material. Answer directional, procedural and programming questions. Assist in opening and closing of library, including startup and shutdown of computers and other equipment. Monitor status of copier, computers and printers; fill with paper and toner as needed; inform appropriate staff members of equipment problems.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist with displays, library promotion and readers advisory. Under the supervision of Circulation Manager, assist with training of new staff members. Special projects. May be asked to serve on library committee. Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Circulation Clerk reports to the Circulation Manager or Branch Manager. This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to sit for 1-2 hours, and stand and/or walk for 4-8 hours per workday. Must be able to bend/stoop, squat, kneel, lift, push/pull and reach above shoulder level for a large percentage of the workday for material manipulation. Must be able to lift and carry up to 35 lbs. Ability to repetitively grasp, lift and carry materials and objects. Ability to repetitively perform fine motor manipulations including typing and writing.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Travel to branches may be necessary. Some evening and weekend hours required.

QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalency. Ability to perform clerical tasks accurately and efficiently. Ability to relate well to the public and communicate effectively. Computer literacy.
