B.S.Ed. Secondary Education: Initial Certification Grades 7–12
Turn your passion for your favorite subject into a rewarding teaching career. Become a certified middle or high school teacher in Pennsylvania through specialized coursework, hands-on classroom experiences and mentorship from experienced educators. Choose from grades 7-12 initial certification subject areas including English, mathematics, sciences, social studies and computer science.

  • 120 credits of in-person coursework and clinical experiences.
  • Dual certification with Special Education PK-12 is available in select subject areas.

English as a Second Language (ESL) Minor
Enhance your teaching credentials and develop specialized skills to support multilingual learners. This minor is a smart choice for students looking to expand credentials and strengthen employability. Open to students pursuing teacher certification in any subject or grade level, this minor explores language acquisition, culturally responsive instruction and assessment.

  • 18 credits of coursework
  • Results in eligibility for PA English as a Second Language PK–12 Program Specialist Endorsement after earning your initial teaching certification.

Secondary Education Minor
