At Kutztown University, the Pre-Med program is designed to give students real-world experience. That’s why, as a Pre-Med major, you’ll have countless opportunities to strengthen your resume and develop the professional skills that medical, veterinary, and dental schools are looking for.
Here are just a few of the opportunities you’ll have as a K.U. Pre-Med major:
- Work with the Pre-Medical Committee for recommendation letters and mock interviews. While some universities charge students a fee for advising services related to the application process and/or committee letters of recommendation, Kutztown University provides these services for free.
- Conduct research alongside faculty mentors for hands-on experience
- Gain clinical experience through shadowing, internships, and volunteer work

Biology (BS)
- Students completing the B.S. Biology degree will demonstrate advanced competence in their area of specialization, either organismal biology/ecology, cell biology/microbiology, pre-medical science, or allied health science.
- Students will demonstrate proficiency in skills useful in gaining successful employment in biology-related positions or admission to graduate or professional programs.
- Students completing the BS Biology degree will demonstrate writing skills such that they can effectively convey concepts and information in their discipline.
- Students completing the BS Biology degree will demonstrate oral communication skills such that they can effectively convey concepts and information in their discipline.
- Students completing the BS Biology degree will be able to effectively utilize the scientific method.
