Global Studies

Today, the world is interconnected, with actions or events occurring in one country or region having significant impact on others. Understanding the international environment and current global challenges, therefore, has become increasingly important for students in all majors.

The Global Studies minor (formerly International Studies) is interdisciplinary, bringing together a broad range of courses to maximize students' understanding of international history, geography, politics, and culture. Given the broad range of courses, most students should be able to add the minor to their existing program of study.

Global Studies Minor (18 credits)

Required Courses (6 credits)

• INT 10: Introduction to International Studies
• ANT 10 or GEG 20 or HIS 15 or POL 20 or POL 30

Elective Courses (12 credits)

Students select four courses from a wide range of disciplines. The courses selected must come from at least two of the following categories:

• Understanding Globalization
• Economic Globalization
• Political Globalization
• Cultural Globalization
• Global Issues

Additionally, students must select courses from at least two prefixes (disciplines). See the check sheet for the full list of courses.
