Family Day

Family Day 2022 - Saturday, September 24

We are excited to announce that Family Day is scheduled for Saturday, September 24, 2022. Our theme this year is Kutztown Road Trip. Please check back for more information about Family Day t-shirts and ticketing for events. 

Schedule of events 

The Office of Student Involvement & the Community Outreach Center are excited to offer numerous family friendly programming on Family Day. We collaborate with offices and organizations all over campus to provide a truly exciting and fun day for the entire family. Check out our tentative schedule below. For assistance in finding campus locations, please refer to the campus map here.

* Please note that Family Day activities and schedule is subject to change at any time. All events are free and open to families except the Football game.

9AM to 1PM Route 1866 Road Trip | Multiple Locations
During the self-guided tour across campus, families have the opportunity to visit numerous locations in "The Quad" buildings on campus. Starting at 9AM, families can pick up their Road Trip map in front of Old Main (starting location) and make their way to various other locations including the Alumni Plaza, the Golden Bear Statue, Rohrbach Library, and the McFarland Student Union (ending location). Participants must take a picture at each location and use the #FamilyDay22. 

At each location families will find sandwich boards with stickers. Place the unique stickers on your map and return the map to the Student Involvement table at the Golden Bear Adventure Zone by 1PM. Families who complete the self-guided tour and turn in a full map will win unique Kutztown prizes! 

10AM to 1PM Golden Bear Adventure Zone | McFarland Student Union, 218 Multipurpose Room
Join us for fun and interactive activity tables hosted by student organizations and clubs on campus, meet the First Year Experience team and instructors, games, giant jenga, giant connect four inflatables, giveaways and more! 

Annual Kick for Tuition Sweepstakes
The annual sweepstakes takes place in MSU 218. Family members can enter a drawing at the KUSSI table. One lucky family will be selected to kick a field goal during halftime at the Football game for a chance to win a free semester of tuition for their KU student. Must be present for the drawing! 

10AM to 1PM Super Smash Bros. Tournament | McFarland Student Union, MSU 157 eSports Arena
Join the eSports Club, Gamers of Kutztown University, and the Game Developers Association for an exciting Super Smash Brothers Tournament. 

10AM Dinosaurs with Dr. Simpson | Boehm 145 - Please check back for online tickets 
Ever wondered what it was like sitting in a college classroom and sitting through a class sessions? Parents and students can sign-up to experience a mock university course together. This year's offering is Dinosaurs with Dr. Simpson, Chair of the Geology Department. The course is an introduction to the paleontology of dinosaurs and includes some fun and exciting lessons and moments!  Tickets are first come first serve. Students can reserve tickets online using their student login.

10AM Free Daps Improv Comedy Freestyle Rap! | McFarland Student Union, Bear's Den
Join the Office of Student Involvement & the Kutztown University Activities Board for a group of freestyle rappers and improvisers who use hip-hop to create a thrilling one-of-a-kind musical comedy show that is truly interactive and fun for the whole family. 

12PM Kutztown Football vs. Shepherd | Andre Reed Stadium - Please check back for online tickets 
It wouldn't be Family Day without a home football game. Get your tickets and root for our Golden Bears. For more information, please visit

4:30PM to 5:30PM Saturday Mass 
6:30PM Center Open House | St. Christopher Catholic Newman Center
Join the Newman Council for mass and then enjoy an open house and learn more about what the Center has to offer to students & families. 


    Free parking is available in the A2 & A3 lots. Please refer the the campus map for more details.

    About Family Day

    The Division of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs is responsible for Family Day and other large-scale programs to support student success. Join us for a fun day of activities for the whole family. The day is built around our home football game for the day - but we have a variety of activities for students, parents, siblings, and other family members both before and after the game.  We partner with student organizations, the library, the German Heritage Center, the planetarium, the MSU movie series, and other Academic and co-curricular departments to bring a large variety of events that you can pick and choose from.
