At Kutztown University, we have access to in-person and online trainings that you can utilize to learn more about accessibility and content remediation.
In-Person Trainings
Faculty, staff, and students can request a personal or departmental training session on various accessibility topics from the Disability Services Office and IT such as:
- Accessible websites and emails
- Accessible social media
- Accessible PDFs
- Accessible PowerPoints

Accessibility 101 D2L Course
Kutztown University has created a D2L course that will cover the basics of digital accessibility, how to make websites and files accessible, and information about the tools and technologies available to faculty and staff.
To self-enroll in this course:
- Log into D2L.
- Select "Discover" in the top navigation.
- Find the "Accessibility 101" course and click on "Enroll in Course."
- You should now be able to open the course. It will be listed on the D2L homepage under "My courses."
KU Advance Courses
Faculty, staff, and students can sign up for online courses through KU Advance for free. Create an account using your KU email and verify your email. Once your account has been verified, go to Student Profile section to be added to the Kutztown University Current Faculty, Staff and Students group. Your account will be approved to use the discount KUFREE.
Introduction to Accessibility and Universal Design
In this course, you will learn the fundamentals of web accessibility and Universal Design for Learning. You will explore why accessibility is important in the online space, guiding principles for making accessible digital content, and the governing bodies of web accessibility. You will also examine the principles of Universal Design for Learning, a framework for creating accessible and successful content for all learners regardless of ability. You will receive hands-on instruction on how to create accessible documents, presentations, and videos for your online content. By the end of this course you will be able to:
- Describe accessibility and its importance in the online space

Start learning Web Accessibility with the W3Schools course and improve your Web Development skills. In this tutorial you will learn how to make accessible websites. That means websites that can be used by everyone, also people with disabilities. As web developers, we are responsible for the work we put into the world. Our work should not exclude anyone. The course is self-paced with text based modules, practical examples and exercises to check your understanding as you progress.
