Mission Statement

The Department of Society, History and Culture provides a multidisciplinary foundation for understanding people, places, and cultures. By bridging the social sciences and humanities, our programs equip students with a holistic understanding of human diversity, past and present.

Through our programs and course offerings, we support opportunities for student research, creative projects, internship experiences, study abroad, and other types of experiential learning.

We empower students to analyze complex information, communicate across boundaries, and apply interdisciplinary insights. Faculty offer students a versatile toolkit for social and cultural analysis, intercultural communication, evidence-based argumentation, and complex problem solving, enabling our students to become culturally competent, socially responsible, community-minded citizens.
