International First Year

International applicants who have not enrolled in any post-secondary institution since graduating high school should apply as freshmen/first-year students. Applying early allows enough time to obtain a student visa, if needed. Deadline exceptions are made on a case-by-case basis.

Steps TO APPLY:

1. Submit the Kutztown Application (Recommended) or apply through the Common Application

2. Pay the $35 USD Application Fee in the application portal. If you have a fee waiver code, enter the code in your application before you click Finalize Application and Pay.

3. Submit Official Secondary School Academic Records or National Exam Results. Read specific requirements by country here.

  • Documents must be translated to English.
  • Unofficial documents can be uploaded on your Applicant Status Portal.
  • Official documents must be emailed to by your Secondary School or National Exam organization. 
  • All international academic GPAs will be recalculated to a Kutztown University's GPA. 

4. Submit Proof of English Proficiency. Read the full list of English Proficiency options here. To prove English proficiency, the applicant must meet one of the requirements below:

  • Option 1: English Proficiency Test with Eligible Scores
  • Option 2: Education Occuring in the U.S.
  • Option 3: Completion of an Approved ESL/English Program
  • Option 4: English as a Medium of Instruction (Select Countries)
  • Option 5: Qualifying Curriculum or National Exam with Eligible Scores

Once all materials are received, the International Office will review your application.

After Acceptance:

5. View your Decision Letter: This letter can be viewed on your Applicant Status Portal.

6. Pay the $300 USD Registration Deposit in your Applicant Status Portal to confirm your enrollment and start the immigration steps. 

7. Submit a copy of your passport (the picture and information page) on your Applicant Status Portal.

8. Complete the Sources of Funds Form: Access the form on your Applicant Status Portal

9. Complete the Financial Support FormUpload the form to your Applicant Status Portal
