Capstone Project

The current capstone process is under review. Please see us in our office for more details and what will be expected in future semesters.

The culmination of a student's Honors Program experience is the Honors Capstone Project.  The Honors Capstone Project is a major independent or collaborative research, creative, or service-learning project. The Capstone Project is a three-semester project, with the last semester generally being the one when the student graduates. Students present their Capstone Projects at a conference beyond the walls of KU (to an audience that includes more than just students from KU). There is a local conference called the Undergraduate Research and Creativity Conference held each Spring semester. Education majors should begin work on the Capstone Projects during their junior year due to their student teaching responsibilities in their senior year.

A How-to Guide is available in the Honors Program office and also here.

The Capstone Project Record Sheet is available in the Honors Program office and also here.

Multiple sessions are scheduled throughout the academic year to assist students in the completion of their Capstone Project. The Honors Program hosts Capstone Info Night each semester and will be hosting a Pitch Your Proposal Idea Day, Conference How-To session, and Digital Archiving session once a year.

Students working on their Capstone Projects can find former students' examples in the Honors Hall lounge or you can find projects archived in the Rohrbach Library Digital Collections located here:
