Financial Support for International Students

  • Appealing a Revoked Scholarship or Waiver

A student may lose a waiver or scholarship if they lose eligibility criteria such as their GPA, disciplinary status, or full-time student status. A student who has had their waiver or scholarship revoked may appeal the decision.

You must request an appeal before the start of the next term, and it is recommended to request an appeal before bills are issued for the next term. Appeals will not be accepted for a semester that is in progress, or has ended. It is possible that all scholarships/waivers may not be reinstated. In most circumstances, only one appeal will be granted during the course of the student’s academic career at Kutztown University.

    International Tuition Waiver:

You will receive an email from the International Office when you are no longer eligible. For a loss of the waiver due to GPA: You are permitted one probationary term, where at the end of the probationary term your GPA must be eligible.

Instructions for Appeal: Email international@kutztown.edu and explain your situation and if you have taken any steps to correct the reason why you lost your waiver.

    Out-of-State Tuition Waiver/Reduction and Merit-Scholarships:

You will receive an email from the Financial Aid Office when you are no longer eligible. If you are unsure, you can contact their office by email financialaid@kutztown.edu or phone 610-683-4077. The Financial Aid Office will review each appeal, and it may take a few weeks to hear back.

Instructions for Appeal: Complete a Scholarship Appeal Form (Under “Current Students” and “Financial Aid”)

Economic Hardship Waiver and SummerTuition Waiver:

Students cannot appeal the decision of not being selected, however, a student may apply again for a future term.

Additional Funding Options:

Economic Hardship Waiver: A limited number of one-time $2,000 waivers are available to current undergraduate students who demonstrate that they, or their financial sponsors, have recently experienced significant changes in their financial conditions and the changes have created an unforeseen financial hardship affecting the student's ability to afford living or educational expenses.

Summer Tuition Waiver: A limited number of full-tuition and partial-tuition (50%) waivers are available to current graduate students. The waiver is limited to one, 3-credit course in either the Summer 1 or Summer 2 term. The waiver cannot be used towards individual instruction or independent study. The student is still responsible for paying KU fees.
