McFarland Student Union

The McFarland Student Union provides many services and programs to enhance the academic engagement and experience for students, staff, faculty and guests to the university.

The McFarland Student Union, located at 171 College Boulevard, provides many services and programs to enhance the academic engagement and experience for students, staff, faculty and guests to the university. With over 99,000 square feet of space, an average traffic count of over 7,000 guests per semester weekday, and well over 3,000 events per year, the Student Union Operations Office is charged with providing support for the needs of students and the co-curricular activities that enhance their KU experience.

Start your day with a coffee at Starbucks in the Bear's Den. 

Students can showcase their artwork in three Art Gallery locations: the Student Union Art Gallery, Brass Rail Gallery, and Corner Gallery.

The MSU houses the Cub Café, an all-you-care-to-eat dining venue serving the entire University community and is open during the academic year Monday - Sunday.

The union prides itself on being a well-rounded facility that offers students and staff many opportunities for formal and informal involvement and services. These include:

  • 239 seat auditorium
  • student government board office
  • campus radio station
  • computer lab
  • outdoor seating space
  • meeting rooms

In addition, the student union has several lounges including a fireside study lounge, the Bear's Den and Art Gallery lounges, and a commuter, adult and veteran student common lounge - a convenient resource and relaxation spot. It also houses a credit union, Campus Store and Administrative Offices.
