Dean of the College of Education

Rebecca West Burns, Ph.D.
Dr. Burns leads the College of Education and advances its mission through academic leadership, partnership development, and innovation in educator preparation.

  • Dr. Rebecca West Burns Biography

    Dr. Burns is a nationally recognized leader in teacher education with extensive experience in school-university collaboration, clinical practice, and urban education. 

    She has held leadership roles in several national professional organizations, authored more than 60 publications including four books, and delivered more than 130 presentations at the local, state, national, and international levels.

    Before joining Kutztown University, she served as the Bill Herrold Endowed Professor and director of Clinical Practice and Educational Partnerships at the University of North Florida. She previously taught at the University of South Florida, where she also held multiple program leadership roles in teacher education.

Thomas Conway, Ed.D.
Dr. Conway supports the academic work of the college and helps guide initiatives related to faculty collaboration, student success, and educator preparation.

  • Dr. Thomas Conway Biography

    A lifelong educator, Dr. Conway has taught at both the high school and college levels in Pennsylvania.

    Before joining Kutztown University, he served as Chairperson of Teacher Education and Honors Program Director at Cabrini University, where he taught undergraduate and graduate courses and received Distinguished Faculty Awards for scholarship and external service.

    Dr. Conway is also an active leader in the field, serving as President of the Pennsylvania Association of Colleges and Teacher Educators and as co-editor of The Pennsylvania Educator.

Dr. Driehaus leads the Office of Clinical Education and Partnerships, supporting clinical experiences and strong collaboration with partners.

  • Dr. Tracy Driehaus Biography

    Dr. Driehaus serves as the Assistant Dean for Clinical Education & Partnerships in the College of Education, where she oversees clinical education and cultivates strong school-university partnerships. She brings 19 years of K-12 experience as a teacher, instructional coach, and curriculum supervisor to her role. Her research explores teacher identity and how educators’ perceptions shape both their professional growth and their students’ learning. She is committed to designing innovative, partnership-driven pathways that support emerging educators and honor the teaching profession.
