Next Steps for New Graduate Students

Congratulations on your acceptance into a Kutztown graduate program. Follow the steps below to help with your transition into graduate school.

Accept Your Offer of Admission

To accept your offer of admission, please return to the applicant portal. You will see your offer listed in the upper-right corner. Use the pull-down option to submit your decision.

Activate Your KU Email Account

Log into your KU email account shortly after you accept your offer of admission (24-36 hours). KU offices only use this email address to contact you about important information regarding billing and essential steps you must take before beginning classes at KU. Log in to the email account by using the yellow "K YOU" logo button on the website's top right-hand corner. Your KU email address is your user ID with “@live.kutztown.edu”. This information was emailed to you around the time your decision was delivered.

Contact Your Advisor

Shortly after accepting your offer of admission, you will receive an email with your advisor’s name and contact information. This information can also be found on your applicant portal. Please contact your advisor to discuss your curriculum prior to registering for classes.

Know Your Graduate Financial Aid Options

Review the graduate student aid options available to all graduate students. If you plan on applying for Federal Student Loans, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) available at studentaid.ed.gov.

Search For Graduate Assistantships

The graduate assistantship website has a list of all available assistantship opportunities. All admitted degree-seeking graduate students are welcome to apply.

Register For Classes

Once you communicate with your advisor, registration for classes is completed through MyKU. Your network ID and password will allow you to enter the site. Please follow the training sessions provided by the IT department found here.

Submit Immunization Records

By August 3, 2026, all Kutztown University students are required to either upload proof of immunity OR formally acknowledge the health risks and campus exclusion practices that may be enacted should a student without documented immunity be exposed to a communicable illness. While vaccination is a safe, effective, and cost-efficient tool to help prevent the spread of serious and potentially life-threatening diseases, we recognize and respect that individuals may have differing beliefs related to vaccination, medical contraindications, or an inability to obtain records.

Please visit the Clinical Services website for additional and complete information about these new Immunity Requirements and instructions on how to proceed. If you have questions, contact the health center at 610-683-4082, option 2.

Review Your Bill Posted on MyKU

Students can navigate to MyKU > Student Accounts card > Payment Dashboard to view statements, make payments, set up payment plans and add authorized users who are able to get billing email notifications and their own access to the payment dashboard.  Student Accounts can be reached at 610-683-4133 or studentaccounts@kutztown.edu.

New Student Orientation

New students receive a series of emails containing important, overarching information providing them guidance on onboarding and starting at KU. The messages direct students to registration, student accounts, the learning platform, textbook ordering, and other regulations. Most graduate programs host individualized orientations focusing on program-specifics.

Regularly Check KU Email and MyKU

Remember to check your MyKU and KU email accounts frequently for important messages.
