Greetings from President Cavalier

Dear KU Campus Community,

Words cannot express how excited I am to finally get to campus and begin my tenure as Kutztown University’s 13th president.

I enjoyed visiting with so many of our faculty, staff and even a few students on Monday at our welcome events and meeting many of you for the first time.  I truly look forward to working with you in the years ahead.

I have said that I feel very fortunate to lead a university that is so healthy and solid.  I learned through the search process that KU feels like the right kind of place for me.  Each interaction with you in May and this week has confirmed that feeling.

In the coming months, I will observe, learn, listen and respond in a measured manner.  At the same time, I plan to “hit the ground running” regarding enrollment, academic excellence and fundraising.

I have reviewed the recent survey feedback and plan to begin a monthly update from the President’s Office via email in August.  I will also hold regular town hall meetings on various topics throughout the academic year.  These meetings will be an opportunity to interact with the campus community in person on a consistent basis and receive valuable feedback regarding the direction of our institution.

It is hard to believe we are just six weeks away from the start of the fall semester.   While I plan to meet with many of you before the end of summer, I will be excited to have our faculty, staff and students back together in late August.

In the meantime, please have a safe, relaxing and enjoyable second half of summer.  I look forward to seeing you very soon.

It is great to finally be a Golden Bear!

Sincerely,

Dr. Phil Cavalier
President
