Message from President Hawkinson on Events in Israel and Gaza

Dear KU Campus Community,

The KU family is deeply saddened over the events occurring in Israel and Gaza over the weekend. We understand that there are long-term political differences amid the parties, but the senseless slaughter of innocents, and the taking of men, women and children as hostages, is beyond comprehension. Kutztown University stands with our Jewish community, as well as everyone affected by these acts of violence, and condemns all forms of antisemitism. We are in contact with our students and other organizations, to provide comfort as needed.

We strive to provide an environment wherein all those associated with Kutztown University can feel valued and safe. We reject all forms of racism, violence, sexism, bigotry, brutality and discrimination.

We have safe spaces on campus where students are welcome to gather for support, conversation and solidarity. Please contact any of our resource centers on campus, should you need assistance.

Let us all work together to continue to make Kutztown University a safe and welcoming place for everyone to live, learn, grow and belong.

Sincerely,

Dr. Kenneth S. Hawkinson
President
