Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance

Tuesdays @ 11am, in Boxwood House.

FMLA is an activist group which focuses on issues such as self-empowerment, gender equality, freedom of choice, domestic violence and sexual abuse. FMLA was originally started as the Women's Awareness Group in the 1970s and is now a student organization funded by the SGA and directed by student officers through the Kutztown Women's Center. Every year the group sponsors Take Back the Night Rally and March, and other events focused on activism and social justice. We hold campus-wide programming, fund-raising efforts to non-profit community organizations, and attend conference leadership development opportunities. New members are always welcome!

Feminism: The belief that people of all genders should be treated equally socially, politically and economically

History of FMLA

The Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance (FMLA) works with Kutztown University's Women's Center, organizing programs and other social events.

FMLA has its origins in the Women's Awareness Group, which began in the early 1970s. FMLA is a student organization funded by the Student Government Association and directed by student officers through the Women's Center.

Mission

The mission of FMLA is to create an awareness of issues important to both female and male students while promoting the welfare of society as a whole. Primarily an activist group, FMLA focuses on issues such as self-empowerment, gender equity, freedom of choice, domestic violence, and sexual abuse.

FMLA sponsors The Vagina Monologues and Take Back the Night events in the spring and collaborates on other campus events, including residence hall programming, Women's History Month, and Welcome Week. Fundraising efforts supplement contributions to non-profit community organizations, campus programming, and conference leadership development opportunities. New members are always welcome.
