College Autism Kutztown Experience

Join us for the College Autism Kutztown Experience (CAKE) on July 28, 2026!

CAKE will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026! Registration is open now!

Open to upcoming high school juniors and seniors and incoming college freshmen, this event will give you a good idea of what it is like to be a student at Kutztown University with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Experience a college lecture with a group discussion activity, eat lunch in a dining hall, do an art-based event with an art professor, and see what walking across a campus feels like. The day will end with a presentation by Disability Services Office staff on the difference between accommodations and self-advocacy in high school versus college.

Come out for an exciting day and find out just how great it is to be a Golden Bear!

Student Expectations:

It is our expectation that students attending this program have the skills and strategies needed to attend and participate without the support of an aide or parent. In order to fully be ready to participate in this event, students must be able to independently

  • Follow directions and stay with the group
  • Willingly engage and participate in all planned activities
  • Regulate emotions, overwhelm, and overstimulation

We will provide breaks throughout the day to help alleviate stress and overwhelm; students are welcome to take short breaks, bring fidget items, and/or wear headphones / earplugs to aid in their own regulation.

Students who currently have one-on-one aids in the classroom environment for behavioral or emotional concerns may not have the skills to equally participate in a college readiness program of this nature. Please reach out directly with questions or concerns.
