Transfer Orientation Program
New Student Orientation is a required event to help you register for your classes, acquaint you with university programs and services and also provide you with an opportunity to interact and meet incoming students, faculty and staff. We can't wait to welcome you to the Golden Bear Family!
After paying your Advanced Registration Deposit,
1. Select and register for your orientation date.
Orientation is a requirement for all new students. Be sure to select the orientation based upon the semester you begin classes at KU (Fall or Spring).
2. IF you are not transferring credit equivalent to MAT 017 (Introduction to Mathematics), or higher, you must take the ALEKS Math Placement Assessment.
Do this before your orientation. It takes 72 hours to process your score. If you have questions about your transfer credits, call the Office of the Registrar at 610-683-4485. For technical issues with the assessment, please contact Dr. Paul Ache, Chair of the Department of Mathematics, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 610-683-4410.
If your major requires more than introductory math, you must take the assessment. If you have any questions about your program of study and the mathematics requirement, please speak with your academic advisor or department chair.
3. Would you like to earn 9 free college credits? Take the Modern Language Placement.
The placement exam is only for students with previous modern language experience who want to continue studying that same language. Click here for a password and the instructions.
4. Change of Major Requests
For questions about your current major or to change your major, contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at email@example.com. Please do this before attending your orientation.
5. Stay Connected with KU!
Be sure to check your KU Student Email often to receive updates from New Student Orientation, Housing, Student Accounts, Financial Aid and more!
