New Student Orientation Programs

Welcome to Kutztown University and the beginning of your transformation! We are happy to be part of this new journey in your life. Whether this is your first college experience or you are coming to KU with some college classes already completed, we are here to assist you.

Kutztown University orientation involves a comprehensive overview of the university experience which equips students and families with the tools to make a successful transition into the collegiate environment.


    Kutztown University is actively monitoring the outbreak of a respiratory illness caused by the novel (new) coronavirus (termed “COVID-19”). Very rapidly, the virus has been detected in numerous countries including the United States.

    At this time, there are
    confirmed cases in the State of Pennsylvania. Governor Tom Wolfe has announced several actions to protect the public’s health and limit the spread of COVID-19. The University Health and Wellness Center  is in regular communication with county and state health officials and will share additional information on this web page as it becomes available.

    Kutztown University has moved to an online environment beginning March 23, 2020. All classroom instruction will be conducted virtually.

    What does this mean for New Student Orientation?

    The April 23, 2020 Transfer Orientation Program will be conducted online. Academic Advisement will be completed through video conferencing. The Office of New Student Orientation will be in contact to assist you with these arrangements.

    As for other summer orientation programs, our office is keeping a close on eye on this everchanging situation. As of March 25, 2020, our plan is to continue with our scheduled summer orientation programming. We encourage new students to continue registering both online and over the phone. While our physical office will be closed until at least March 30th, our staff will be readily available by phone during business hours (8:00am -4:30pm) and via email at We appreciate your patience and look forward to having you with us soon!

    New Student Orientation is designed to help you get adjusted to college life, answer your questions and prepare you for the exciting challenges that await you at Kutztown University! When you come to Orientation, you will meet other first-year students, become familiar with campus; gain an understanding of academic and student support services, get your student ID and receive your class schedule.     New Student Orientation is a required event to help you register for your classes, acquaint you with university programs and services and also provide you with an opportunity to interact and meet incoming students, faculty and staff.   • Family Orientation Program

    The Family Orientation program prepares you for the personal adjustments that come with sending a child to college. At this program you will:

    • learn first year success strategies
    • increase your awareness of financial aid and college costs
    • learn how to encourage and emotionally support your student through their college journey
    • learn about KU's student services and how to maximize their use

  • Welcome Weekend

    We can't possibly cover all the things students need to know to be successful at KU during Orientation. That is why we have additional programming during move-in weekend and throughout the first week of school to help students with this transition. From Club and Activities Fair, Entertainment, Presentations and more, we'll help you get involved on campus and make connections that will make your first year a success!
