Commuter/Off-Campus Student Parking at KU
Students living at home or off-campus who wish to park on campus are required to register for and display a valid student parking permit:
- Between 7:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday, all commuter student permits are valid only in their assigned lots.
- All commuter student permits are valid after 4:30 p.m. all day on Saturdays and Sundays in other lots, only in white-lined spaces.
- Permits are required during the fall and spring semesters, but not during the summer months.
- Commuter upperclassmen are undergraduate students with 30+ credits entering the fall semester of the current academic year who reside off-campus but not in privately owned housing communities served by the University's campus shuttle service. They will be issued a C (commuter) decal. Vehicles with C decals must be parked in lots A2, A3, A4, A5, A6,
E1, E2, F6. - Commuter Freshmen (underclassmen) are undergraduate students with fewer than 30 credits entering the fall semester of the current academic year who reside off-campus but not in privately owned housing communities served by the University's campus shuttle service. They will be issued an X (commuter underclassman) decal. Vehicles with X decals must be parked in lots A4, D3, E1, E2.
- Additional vehicles - commuter students that wish to register more than one vehicle to park on campus will be issued a parking permit of their original permit type. The additional permit will incur the same charge - $50 for the semester or $75 for the academic year.
