At Kutztown University, our nationally accredited Elementary and Middle Level Education teacher preparation programs prepare confident, compassionate educators who know how to spark curiosity, build strong foundations in literacy and numeracy, and create contemporary, engaging classrooms for all learners. From your first semester on campus to your final day of student teaching, you’ll learn by doing—supported by expert faculty, dedicated advisors, and a powerful network of school partners across the state. When the base is solid, students can build anything.

Educator pathways:

B.S.Ed. in Elementary Education with Grades PK–4 Initial Certification

  • Build deep knowledge of child development, literacy, mathematics, science, and social studies for the earliest grades. You’ll practice classroom management, assessment, and family engagement while completing meaningful, scaffolded fieldwork. Available to be paired with Special Education PK-12 dual certification.

B.S.Ed. in Elementary Education Grades 4–8 Initial Certification

  • Choose two content areas (Mathematics, English Language Arts/Reading, Science and Social Studies) and learn to guide middle-grade learners through the transition to more advanced thinking and study skills. Available to be paired with Special Education PK-12 dual certification.

M.Ed. Elementary Education with Grades PK-4 Initial Certification

  • This accelerated and flexible 33-credit program is designed for candidates with non-education bachelor’s degrees who wish to become certified elementary teachers while simultaneously earning a master's degree.
