Instructional Coach Endorsement Certification

Foundations for Success

Our fully online, 12-credit Instructional Coach Endosement certification program prepares candidates to lead teachers in reflective and inquiry-based professional development that advances collective leadership, data-driven continuous improvement of instructional practices and improved student achievement. As a professional development activity, Instructional Coaches work with other educators in a collegial manner to raise instructional practice to the highest possible level.

    • Submit online application
    • Official transcripts from all previous colleges or universities
    • A valid PA Instructional I or II certificate or equivalent from another state
    • Evidence of three years of effective teaching experience
  • Coursework

    Required Courses (12 credits)

    • Assessment (3 credits)
      • EDRS 574 Assessment of Reading: Clinical Practicum in Reading Diagnosis OR
      • EDUC 526 Data Driven Decision Making
    • Leadership (3 credits)
      • EDRS 577 Leadership for Reading Educators OR
      • EDUC 541 Supervision of Instruction
    • Adult Learning Theories (3 credits)
      • ELED 531 Adult Learning Theory and Foundations in Instructional Coaching
    • Coaching Practicum (3 credits)
      • ELED 532 Practicum in Instructional Coaching

    80 hours of fieldwork are required for completion of the program. Candidates accrue hours as they progress through the program: 10 hours completed in Assessment course; 15 hours completed in Leadership course; 25 hours completed in Adult Learning Theories course; and 30 hours completed in Coaching Practicum course.
