A native of Philadelphia, Lauren Lark began singing and playing the violin at the age of seven. Her early passion for music led her to the renowned Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts, where she deepened her study of Gospel, Hip-Hop, Blues, Classical, and Jazz. This diverse musical exposure helped cultivate her unique versatility as a vocalist, with a personal style rooted strongly in jazz.
Lauren earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Music Performance from the University of the Arts, where she was honored with the Best Jazz Vocalist Award upon graduation. During her time there, she studied with and performed alongside acclaimed artists such as J.D. Walter, Christian McBride, Reginald Pindell, and Gerald Veasley. Her work with percussionist Doc Gibbs further expanded her vocal and rhythmic range, particularly in Afro-Cuban music.
As a sought-after performer in the Tri-State area, Lauren has appeared in a wide range of jazz and classical ensembles. Her voice has graced the stages of the Cape May Jazz Festival, Welcome America Parade, Coltrane Jazz Festival, the Clef Club of Jazz and Performing Arts, the Barnes Foundation, and the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. She has also performed as a featured soloist with The Philly Pops and is a member of The Voices of the Pops. Lauren leads and performs with her own ensembles, including The Lauren Lark Big Band and Quartet, and recently showcased her comedic talents in the musical theater production 3 Divas 3.
In addition to performing, Lauren is an active educator and entrepreneur. She is the co-founder of Lark Music Studio, offering private lessons in voice, piano, and harp, and Tyke Quest, a music and movement program for infants and toddlers. Passionate about mentoring the next generation of artists, Lauren currently teaches and coaches vocalists of all genres at the University of the Arts.
As she continues her journey through music, artistry, and motherhood, Lauren remains committed to creative exploration, education, and sharing music that connects deeply with others.
