Professional Development / Training

KU offers opportunities for career development and training to support the continuous growth of our faculty and staff.  Employees are welcome to apply for professional development opportunities to learn new skills and practices or to gain more knowledge, through the available programs offer within their work group.  The options vary between each work group.

In addition to the departmental resources available for mandatory certifications and continued growth and skill development, the following limits are in accordance with the contract.

SPFPA Agreement- Patrol Officers and Police Specialists

In accordance with Article 34 Section 10 of SPFPA Agreement-Any training required by the Employer will be provided in accordance with the existing local practice with regard to scheduling, travel and attendance for such training.

Requests for job-related training initiated by an employee will be considered and granted at the sole discretion of the Employer.

SPFPA Memorandum- Police Supervisors

In accordance with Recommendation 34 Section 9 of SPFPA Memorandum - Any training required by the Employer will be provided in accordance with the existing local practice with regards to scheduling, travel and attendance for such training. 

Requests for job-related training initiated by an employee will be considered and granted at the sole discretion of the Employer.
