KU Military and Veterans Services honors KU alumnus veterans with its Spirit Award. The Spirit Award is presented to a KU alumnus who honorably served in the U.S. Armed Forces and who continues to serve the military or veteran community by demonstrating a spirit of service that goes above and beyond normal duties.

The recipient is presented their award by KU's president during the university's annual military appreciation football game.  The 2025 game is scheduled on Saturday, 11/01/2025.

2025 Award Recipient

In honor of KU Military & Veterans Services 12-year anniversary, the 2025-2026 Veteran
Alumni Spirit Award was proudly presented to Art Petersen. A distinguished Kutztown
University Alumni and U.S. Army Veteran, Art Petersen now serves as a dual MBA/JD licensed
attorney in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area.

Endorsed by numerous of his professional colleagues, Artserves as proof that Kutztown
University worksto produce successful and well-connected Military and Veteran Alumni. His
journey from Kutztown University to serving his country and pursuing dual graduate degrees
exemplifies a spirit of determination and excellence worth acknowledging.
