2026 Summer Workshop Scholarships
This scholarship is for currently enrolled Kutztown University Art Students of any art major (Art, CD, Art Education, Animation) to take summer workshops from specialized schools.
You must be on good standing with Kutztown University, and be prepared to be a good representation of our university in the greater arts community.
The purpose of this scholarship is to provide additional specialized training in techniques beyond what can be offered at KU, and to become a part of a larger artistic community and make connections for your future art careers. These workshops are not counted towards college credits.

- Arrowmont School of Art and Craft, Gaitlinburg, Tennessee
- Peter's Valley School of Craft, Delaware Water Gap, New Jersy
- Touchstone Center for Crafts, Farmington, PA
- Goggleworks Center for the Arts, Reading, PA
- Snow Farm New England Craft Program, Western Massachusetts
- Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, Deer Isle, Maine
- any other specialized school you can find!
Application Process:
DEADLINES FOR SUBMISSION:
(you can apply to both if you do not receive the Penland scholarship)
December 5, 2025 for Penland School of Craft scholarship (only 1 scholarship available, to be announced mid December)

To be considered you must submit:
- Your Artist Statement - that describes your current focus within your work.
- Workshop Proposal with your top three choices with class name and location (ranked). Please also include how you believe the knowledge and skills learned during this experience would benefit your artistic practice in the future.
- 5-8 artworks uploaded into one single pdf, these should show us your best work in the medium you would like to study further
- A budget breakdown – please research and list each cost associated with each workshop. List : tuition, room and board costs, your personal travel costs (car+gas, there and back), and any other supplies needed. Please list individual costs, and total cost for each program you are interested in.
PLEASE NOTE: if you have received this scholarship once already, you are not eligible for another.
All applications will be be reviewed by the Summer Workshop Scholarship Committee which includes faculty from several art disciplines.
Scholarship winners will be contacted by email by mid December for Penland, all other scholarship announcements will come in March.
Funds will be deposited directly to your KU account, you are responsible for paying the schools and doing all the things needed to attend the program including booking and paying for the class, figuring out travel, confirming your room and meal plan, etc.
