Hawkinson Welcome Center

The Hawkinson Welcome Center opens in 2025. The center, located at the corner of Kutztown Rd. and College Blvd., includes a renovation of the Poplar House and a new 10,300-square-foot addition.

The new addition includes a lobby and gathering space with a reception/information counter with interactive displays and kiosks; a large multi-purpose meeting room, capable of both table seating for receptions or lecture style layout for presentations; a catering kitchen to support special events; offices for a portion of admissions department staff; and a lounge for student tour guides.

Originally a home and farm, The Poplar House historic site has evolved with the university, playing various roles that supported student life and learning. From nourishing students for three decades with its farmland to offering cultural experiences as the Spanish House, Poplar has adapted to the changing needs of the university and its predecessor schools. Now, as the newly established Hawkinson Welcome Center, it continues to serve as a gateway, honoring its rich past while embracing a bright future.
