Guest Speaker:  Dr. Bryan Dewsbury

"Beyond Content - Teaching for Meaning and Purpose"

Dr. Bryan Dewsbury will revisit the value proposition that the college classroom offers and our own roles in maximizing the opportunities for our students. He will make the case for an experience that includes the beautiful exploration of new knowledge, as well as the explicit cultivation of civic skills and values. Dr. Dewsbury will discuss why this revisiting is particularly crucial to the retethering of higher education to a civically just society.

Dr. Bryan Dewsbury is an Associate Professor of Biological Sciences at Florida International University, and is the principal investigator of the Science  Education and Society research program.
