Barbe Fogarty, DSW, MSW, MEd received her DSW in 2020 from Kutztown University.  She earned her MSW from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, an MEd from the University of Turabo in Puerto Rico, and a BA in Sociology from St. Mary’s College in South Bend, Indiana. 

Dr. Fogarty has worked in a variety of community-based organizations since 1986 as a community organizer, re-entry program manager, GED/ESL instructor, and as program director for YouthBuild, serving disconnected youth in Reading, PA.  Dr. Fogarty has also taught social work and sociology courses as an adjunct faculty member at Saint Joseph’s University (Philadelphia), Alvernia University (Reading, PA) and Albright College (Reading, PA).

Teaching interests: 

Macro Social Work, Community Organizing, Social and Economic Justice, Service-Learning.

Research interests: 

Disasters and disaster recovery, social media analysis, discourse analysis, qualitative inquiry.
