DSW Application Process

Applications are processed on a rolling basis for each Fall cohort.  Once the upcoming Fall cohort is complete acceptance may be offered for a future cohort.

• • Graduate application
  • MSW degree from a Council of Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited program
  • Official transcripts from previous colleges or universities (non-KU)
  • Minimum of two years of post-MSW practice experience 
  • CV
  • Completed clearances no more than one-year-old may be needed in preparation for Praxis
  • Two contacts of references (email and phone number)
  • A five-page scholarly essay addressing the candidate's current state of knowledge in social work regarding a social phenomenon of interest, with proper use of current APA style
  • Provide a 2-3 page personal essay statement describing your career goals and how the DSW will help you to obtain them. Be sure to elaborate why the KU DSW program is the ideal fit for you at this specific moment in your career. 
  • Interview with the DSW admissions committee
