Biographical Statement:
Dr. Chaundy is a Pennsylvania Licensed Psychologist and Licensed Clinical Social Worker, as well as a Nationally Certified School Psychologist who holds a Diplomate in School Neuropsychology. She has over thirty years of experience working in the mental health field with children, adolescents, families, and adults of all ages and has worked in a variety of settings such as agencies, hospitals, and schools, as well as has provided intensive in-home therapy services. Dr. Chaundy earned her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Wesley College in Dover, Delaware, her Masters of Social Work from Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania and her Educational Specialist and Doctorate degree in School Psychology from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Chaundy also has additional training in family therapy from the Philadelphia Child Guidance Center as well as additional training in cognitive behavioral therapy and biblical counseling. Dr. Chaundy also owns a mental health practice and is the founder, owner & CEO Mind Matters Coaching, Counseling & Psychological Associates, LLC of Reading, Allentown, Orwigsburg & Exeter.
Teaching Interests:
Dr. Chaundy enjoys teaching practice classes with individuals, families and groups and assessment methods for social workers in schools working with children and adolescents. She has also taught classes including human behavior in the social environment, families in the social environment, case-management, seminar, maltreatment in the family, crisis Intervention with families, and short-term treatment modalities, as well as human learning and memory. Dr. Chaundy has also worked as a field liaison to students in their field placement. Dr. Chaundy also enjoys working with students on independent studies in spirituality and religion in social work practice.
Research Interests:
Dr. Chaundy's research interests include school social work and educational issues with children as well as integrating spirituality and religion into social work practice. She has presented at local, national and international conferences including the Pennsylvania National Association of Social Work. Dr. Chaundy has also been a guest speaker on Berks TV "Talking Mental Health" about the "Role of Spirituality and Religion in Mental Health." Dr. Chaundy's doctoral dissertation topic was on "Religious Beliefs, Emotional Attachment, and Behavioral Commitment: It's Relationship with the Self-Regulation of Adolescents" and her dissertation was published into a book by Scholar's Press in 2014.
Professional Involvement:
Dr. Chaundy is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, National Association of School Psychologists and the American Board of School Neuropsychologists, as well as American Association of Christian Counselors.
