Microcredential in Applied Statistics

Students may earn a microcredential in Applied Statistics by completing MATH 250: Applied Regression Analysis with a grade of B or higher and completing one of the following classes with a grade of B or higher: MATH 304: Statistical Programming, MATH 325: Applied Time Series Analysis , or MATH 327: Design and Analysis of Experiments.

Applied Statistics is the use of statistical methods to analyze data and guide decisions.  Students who earn this microcredential have mastered skills including:

  1. Statistical Modeling – Developing and applying statistical methods to analyze data and draw meaningful conclusions.

  2. Applied Data Analytics – Using software tools such as R to explore data, generate insights, and communicate results effectively.

  3. Data-Based Decision Making – Designing studies or interpreting data from real-world contexts to support informed, evidence-based decisions.

Microcredential in operations Research

Students may earn a microcredential in Operations Research by completing MATH 361: Operations Research I and MATH 362: Operations Research II, each with a grade of B or higher.  

Operations research is the study of optimization through various programming methods.  Students who earn this microcredential have mastered skills including:

  1. Mathematical formulation of Linear Programming problems

  2. Mastery of the Simplex Algorithm

  3. Proficiency using Excel Solver to solve large-scale real-world problems
