Honors Program Attends Northeast Regional Honors Conference
This past weekend, 16 students in the KU Honors Program attended the Northeast Regional Honors Conference in Pittsburgh. The theme of the conference was "Building Resilience from Tragedy: Understanding Hate, Violence, Loss and Reconciliation." Fourteen students presented original research or creative projects. In addition to exploring Pittsburgh with honors students from other schools, our students saw the play "Native Gardens" at the City Theater. After the show they were able to dialogue with an artistic director of the theater to discuss Karen Zacarias's "brilliant comedy that exposes well-intentioned neighbors' notions on race, class, morality and privilege." Overall, the conference proved how important it is to share your work with the world. We are already planning our next conference trip to showcase our outstanding KU students and their amazing research and artwork.

Weather
Weather forecasts are provided by KU's Dr. Michael Davis and "Monsoon Mike" Regensburger
Like yesterday, clouds will be more prominent than sunshine today, though there could still be some sunny breaks. If there are, it will get very warm and perhaps approach near 80 ahead of a cold front which could give us some strong showers or thunderstorms in the afternoon.

GEAC Rating Day Professional Development Event
We invite faculty to join us for Spring 2023 Rating Day. All norming and rating for general education C1 and C2 work products this semester will occur during this dedicated workshop time. In addition to completing the rating of student work, we have several other outcomes of the day, including:
- Evaluate our newly updated analytic rubrics. These revisions are the result of continued conversations from faculty instructors.
- Promoting a more collaborative process with our colleagues across the university.
- The in-person and synchronous nature of the day allows for faculty to discuss challenging ratings with one another, and faculty with less expertise in a specific area can engage in conversation with faculty with more experience in the specific content area.
- A way to encourage conversation about teaching and assessment with colleagues from across the university.
- Free coffee and lunch.
The event will be held 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, 223 MSU. Please register by April 21.
