Ujima Conference: Feb. 18-20
The Ujima Conference is an annual celebration of African and Black heritage during the month of February. Over the span of three days, students, staff and other members of the Golden Bear community come together to create programming and events that celebrate the richness of the African diaspora.
The theme “Confidence in Color” inspires students to embrace their ancestry and feel empowered in the face of adversity. Our cultures are diverse, not monolithic, so it also encourages students to break the mold and be themselves.
This year’s keynote speaker is Shanita Hubbard, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 20, 218 MSU. Hubbard is an acclaimed writer, sociology professor and Soros Fellow.
