KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Kutztown University has named Stephanie Hemak its next assistant vice president for finance. Hemak brings more than 20 years of experience in financial reporting and more than a decade of financial leadership and management experience. She will begin her new role Monday, Nov. 2.
As assistant vice president for finance, Hemak will oversee the Business Office, Business Services, Student Accounts, Accounts Payable, Grant Accounting and Payroll. She will also play a critical role in developing the university's annual budget and advancing Kutztown's long-term financial sustainability efforts, including the university's comprehensive planning process.
"I am excited to join Kutztown University and contribute to a community with such a strong commitment to student achievement and institutional excellence," Hemak said. "I look forward to working alongside colleagues throughout the university to strengthen campus partnerships, advance shared priorities and support initiatives that further KU's mission and contribute to its continued success."
Most recently, Hemak served as director of finance at St. Luke's College of Health Sciences, where she spearheaded the creation of financial systems for its new Health Sciences College.
Prior to St. Luke's, Hemak served as shared services controller for Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education in the Office of the Chancellor, serving as the dedicated controller for PennWest University. In this role, she developed policies and procedures and implemented systems to ensure sound accounting practices during the final phases of the integration of PennWest's three legacy universities.
"Stephanie brings strong financial expertise, valuable State System experience and a collaborative leadership approach to KU,” said Matt Assad, vice president for Administration and Finance. "I am confident she will be a trusted and collaborative partner across campus, and I look forward to having her lead our finance team."
Hemak is a licensed certified public accountant and holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting from Bloomsburg University.
