KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Congratulations to Laurette Norman, clerical assistant, University Relations, on being named Kutztown University Employee of the Month for October 2022.

Norman’s nomination from Tammy Wert, executive assistant, University Relations and Athletics, reads:

“A positive campus climate promotes belonging and learning, and it nurtures student success. Laurie contributes to student success by providing outstanding student-focused service and exhibiting a positive and supportive attitude.

Laurie is the university’s main point of contact and communicates with all university stakeholders. She warmly welcomes everyone to the university. Her friendly demeanor and active listening skills help her to quickly ascertain student needs. The depth of her institutional knowledge – she has worked at the university for more than 17 years – makes her a great resource whether she is helping callers resolve quick questions or problem solve more complex issues involving several departments. She provides timely and accurate information and appropriate referrals.

During the pandemic, we had many emotionally charged questions, and Laurie’s ability to communicate accurately and with empathy made a big difference. Laurie fosters a culture that supports student success and well-being. Kutztown University is a better place to work and live thanks to her commitment to students and her positive and welcoming attitude.”

Nominations are collected from students, faculty and staff, and the Employee of the Month is selected by the Human Resources Advisory Council. A winner will be selected each month, and out of the 12 monthly winners one will be selected as Employee of the Year. The Employee of the Month will receive a plaque, reserved parking and a $100 monetary gift sponsored by President Hawkinson.
