KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Congratulations to John Newhard, Facilities, on being named Kutztown University Employee of the Month for September 2022.

Newhard’s nomination from Honey Svoboda, Conference Services, reads:

“John is one of the hardest working people on this campus in an area that is often overlooked as a member of the labor crew. We often have labor intensive set-ups for the many events occurring through this office, like high school graduations, weddings, sporting events, etc., and often times, we have last minute changes or additions. John always makes sure that we have everything we need.

John can always be counted on for asking good questions and making suggestions that may help with our actual needs for an event. It is because of John and the labor crews’ work that we are able to support top-notch events throughout the year. John’s vast knowledge of KU and our resources only serves to help everyone he comes in contact with. He is able to joke through a tough situation and often the word “cheesesteak” can bring a smile to all of our faces. Often the unsung heroes of Facilities go unnoticed, but John should not be one of them. He has been a pleasure to work with throughout the years we have worked together.”

Nominations are collected from students, faculty and staff, and the Employee of the Month is selected by the Human Resources Advisory Council. A winner will be selected each month, and out of the 12 monthly winners one will be selected as Employee of the Year. The Employee of the Month will receive a plaque, reserved parking and a $100 monetary gift sponsored by President Hawkinson.
