KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Congratulations to Heather Arbuckle, clerical assistant, Grants and Sponsored Projects, on being named Kutztown University Employee of the Month for April 2023.

Arbuckle’s nomination from Jeffrey Werner, assistant provost for Research and Grants, reads:

“Ask anyone who has worked with Heather if she should receive this award and they would tell you yes, without hesitation. Heather is a hardworking, professional and ethical employee who is always willing to help others. She is dedicated to seeing our students, faculty and staff be successful. Heather provides excellent customer service to faculty, staff and students, not just for work within the Office of Grants and Sponsored Projects, but also in general.

One example of Heather doing what she loves to do – helping others at KU – happened this past semester. She was leaving for the day and noticed students with posters walking around the hallway in Old Main. She asked if they needed help and inquired what they were looking for in the building. Heather learned that the students were there to present their posters inside the Georgian Room. She showed them how to get to the location, but once there, she noticed there were no tables or easels for students to place their posters for presentation. Heather had the faculty member, along with some students, come down the hall to the Grants office to grab the easels we have so the students could setup their posters.

She provided the faculty member with her personal cell phone number and told them to contact her when the event was over – around 7 p.m., and she would come back to Old Main to help move the easels back into our office.

There are many other examples that demonstrate Heather's dedication to contributing not only to the Office of Grants and Sponsored Projects, but to the broader mission and goals of Kutztown University. We are very happy and lucky to have her as part of our team.”

Nominations are collected from students, faculty and staff, and the Employee of the Month is selected by the Human Resources Advisory Council. A winner will be selected each month, and out of the 12 monthly winners one will be selected as Employee of the Year. The Employee of the Month will receive a plaque, reserved parking and a $100 monetary gift sponsored by President Hawkinson.
