KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Congratulations to Julie Setliff, department secretary, Clinical Experience and Partnerships, on being named Kutztown University Employee of the Month for June 2022.

Setliff’s nomination from Carissa Pokorny-Golden, former associate dean of the College of Education, reads:

“Working in the Clinical Experiences Office can be challenging. Students who come into the office are oftentimes stressed and upset about many things: testing, clearances and placements. When students come into the Clinical Experiences Office with these issues, however, they are met with a smile and an understanding staff member, Julie Setliff. Julie provides a listening ear and support. Her calming influence, backed by an office decorated with gnomes and mushrooms, makes students instantly feel at ease.

Julie is one of the hardest working staff members I know. Whenever I walk past the Clinical Experiences Office at any given time during the semester, Julie is always at work, on the phone helping: students, mentor teachers or faculty; meeting with students face-to-face; or diligently inputting and updating placements and requests. Those who call the Clinical Experiences Office will have their problems solved without a doubt because Julie seeks out those who can help if she cannot.

She is one of our strongest and best recruiting and retention resources at KU, making sure that students stay at KU and those that want to come here get the help they need to apply. The evidence for this statement can be seen in the students, faculty and staff that come to visit her for help and those graduates that continue to visit her time and again.

I honestly cannot imagine what we would do without Julie's help each and every day in the College of Education. She truly is a bright light that makes working and learning at KU better.”

Nominations are collected from students, faculty and staff, and the Employee of the Month is selected by the Human Resources Advisory Council. A winner will be selected each month, and out of the 12 monthly winners one will be selected as Employee of the Year. The Employee of the Month will receive a plaque, reserved parking and a $100 monetary gift sponsored by President Hawkinson.
