Spring-like high pressure affects the area today, similar to yesterday, but even a touch warmer. High around 67 degrees. Southwest breezes. A back door cool front will make tomorrow much cooler, so enjoy today.

Upcoming CLAS Program Array and Structure Changes

In response to changing shifting student enrollment patterns and subsequent reductions in faculty complement, restructuring has been occurring at KU in our colleges over recent years. These efforts work to bring about greater efficiency, relieve faculty workload in small departments, achieve appropriate scheduling for student need, and create new synergies that bring additional support to departmental operations and programs. Such program array initiatives also reflect efforts to achieve greater sustainability at the system level, as well as President Hawkinson’s directives to address mismatches between student enrollment and faculty complement. Read more on some of our structural and curricular plans in a recent memo sent to Liberal Arts and Sciences faculty and staff.

Science Olympiad at KU needs Volunteers

Science Olympiad really needs help. It's getting closer to the date and we are short-staffed. Volunteers are needed to help KU host the CE Regional Science Olympiad Thursday, March 20. The Science Olympiad is a competition held on campus that hosts eight middle schools and 28 high schools from nine counties. 600+ students will compete in approximately 46 events based in science disciplines such as biology, earth science, chemistry, physics, computers and technology; and we need your help to make all that happen. You do not need a science background to be a volunteer. We need help with registrations, lobby info, food sales/delivery, set-up, scoring, event assistance and so much more. You can judge an event or help with the Appeals Board. Club advisers get your club involved. Advertise for us in your classroom with this PowerPoint Slide. Please contact our volunteer coordinator, Dr. Michael Davis at midavis@kutztown.edu. If you are interested and would like more information, please check out our website. We look forward to having you as part of the team.

Searchable General Education Course List

As we begin advising students for Fall 2025, the General Education Program and Assessment Committee (GEPAC) has made a comprehensive list of GE courses available on D2L. You can access a searchable and sortable spreadsheet of all courses on the GEPAC D2L page following this sequence: Content -> General Education Resources (module 1) -> General Education Course List (the first file in the list). This document is updated on D2L at least twice per year when advising time comes around. This list should help facilitate excellent advising conversations with your students.

CEL Journal Post: Take 5, Part 1: Things to Do in the Middle of the Semester

The middle of the semester is critical to gather feedback on what's working and where students are struggling. Students have settled into the course, but there is still time to make meaningful adjustments. In this week's CEL Journal post, we discuss how small adjustments can make the semester's second half more successful for everyone.
